About the Author / Priscilla Ang
I obtained my Bachelors Degree in Commerce (Accounting and Finance), and Postgraduate Diploma in Business Systems in Australia.
Before coming to the United States in 2016 with the family, I worked for 18 years in corporate businesses, holding senior roles in a range of organisations, across industries and regions. My experience in forming partnerships, business processes, and organisational management has given me an appreciation for what it takes to build and execute a vision.
We will be going home to Singapore in June of 2020. My children aged between 7 and 14 were studying in the Singapore schools before we moved here. They are currently in the US education system.

About this Blog / This blog shares my personal reflections as I apply what I have learned here. Having my children experience two different education approaches has been eye-opening. They have moved from an instructional model of learning to a student-centric education. Has that changed them for the better or the worse? How did that affect their study attitudes? And as the US addresses their own version of education reformation, what are some of the tactics they have employed in the schools that may be relevant for us in Singapore?
Come alongside me as I share our experiences in the US education, and how I processed and struggled with them as a Singaporean parent.
Journey with me as we talk through the learning approaches that the US schools used in addressing productivity, stress, innovation, failure, learning etc, and how that may or may not work in the Singapore socio-cultural context.
Lastly, hear directly from our panel of experts. Because by tapping on leading-edge thinkers elsewhere, we can equip ourselves with meaningful information, enlarge our perspective and build capacity to be active participants in building a healthy and innovative learning environment for our country.
I believe that true education reform lies not only in the education system but in the hearts and minds of every parent, educator and administrator. So it is so important that we get onto the same page and make a difference in writing our next education chapter.
